FAQs
White Boats
In January 2012, the authorities of Quang Ninh province decided to renew the image of Halong bay and build an international trademark. Since then, all the cruisers must be white with brown sails.
What to wear
No special dress code is required on our Halong cruises. For sightseeing, kayak and water activities, please bring a hat, sunglasses, a swimming suite, eco-friendly sunscreen, a beach towel and changing clothes.Comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended for visits and hikes. In winter, warm clothes and wind block jackets are highly recommended as the temperature feel at sea can be very chilly. Rain showers are common throughout the year.
What to bring along
Your passport! It is compulsory for the Port Authorities registration. As drinks are not included, a little money is required (major credit cards accepted too).
Vietnamese Cuisine
Lunches and dinners served onboard are typically Vietnamese. All the products are fresh and local. All the dishes are prepared onboard, “homemade” by our experienced chefs. Our regular set menus make the best out of the tasty and diverse seafood available by the bay. Non-seafood eaters or vegetarian passengers will be served delicious alternative dishes.
Vietnamese meals are moments of sharing and conviviality. Guests sit at tables of 4 or 6. All dishes are put in the middle of the table at the same time. That does not mean Vietnamese people do not eat in a particular order. Usually, they start with salads, then rolls and nems, and then pick in the main dishes. They eat rice later, still picking in the main dishes. By the end of the meal, they drink broth. Every dish comes with its particular side-sauce or seasoning dips. Dessert is a selection of seasonal fruits.
